Reskin Games for Food and Beverage Industry

We recently worked with a Food and Beverage (F&B) brand in the United States to develop a game called “Bubble Popper” as part of their digital campaign for brand discovery and customer retention. Our goal for this project was to provide a cost-efficient platform that not only represents the brand but also attracts interest from consumers.

Gameplay

Bubble Popper is a classic arcade-style match-3 puzzle game that involves shooting down clusters of bubbles. Each level features a unique challenge that can be solved using different strategies.

Here is a preview of the game:

The objective is to clear all the bubbles in each level by combining three or more bubbles of the same color to make them pop. Players can also swap the bubble loaded onto the shooter with the one in the bucket. The catch? Players only have limited ammo as shown by the number in the wooden sign.

Reskinning Games for Promotion

To build Bubble Popper, we made a game reskin from one of our game engines called Monkey Bubble Shooter. We replaced the original graphics and audio to match the client’s brand and make the new game more appealing to their target audience.

The original game mechanics were also modified to improve player engagement. The new mechanics include unlockable rewards such as the brand’s iconic bottle cap skins for each completed level.

Integrating Rewards to Reskinned Games

Gamification, or the process of adding game elements and principles, is a key tool used by modern-day brands to boost user engagement and attract new customers to a product or service. One of the best ways to utilize this strategy is to combine it with a rewards system where players are incentivized with prizes for participating.

In the case of Bubble Popper, players must enter access codes found under the bottle caps of our client’s products in order to play the game and unlock rewards. This rewards system not only attracts website visitors but also encourages brand loyalty through actual sales.

HTML5 Games for the Food and Beverage Industry

Bubble Popper is built using HTML5 technology—the current standard for creating web pages and web applications. Here are 3 reasons why HTML5 games can support marketing strategies in the food and beverage industry:

1. Attracts customers to a website

According to research conducted by the Content Marketing Institute, games and rewards are most effective for promoting brand awareness and discovery. Likewise, interactive content is 80% more effective in capturing customer attention as compared to traditional marketing strategies.

Trends show that buyers prefer interacting with a brand first before making a purchase. HTML5 games can help bridge this gap between brands and customers.

2. Converts views and gameplay hours into sales

One important aspect of the food and beverage industry is that it relies heavily on customer experience, such as product taste or restaurant ambiance. Whether it's a product or service, people spend money on a quality experience.

This is where the use of branded games comes in. Modern marketers have utilized game reskinning to capture a brand essence and compress it into a tiny app, where everyone can have a brief experience about the brand.

Bubble Popper generates brand interest because of its rewards system experience. As previously explained, players must have access codes in order to play and win prizes.

This setup creates a need for players to buy our client’s products from supermarkets and stores. In short, players spend retail money for the experience of playing a digital game, to win prizes. For that reason, the game not only increases web traffic but also converts into sales.

3. Enables reliable lead generation

The fun and engaging nature of games and prizes motivate players to register with accurate information. After all, players can't claim prizes or rewards using fake accounts. This way, the leads generated from HTML5 games are highly reliable. This type of lead generation immediately creates an impact on marketing promotions since all of them are done accurately and voluntarily.

Making Brands more Appealing to Customers

In the food and beverage industry, customers want to know more about a brand before making any purchase. This is the very reason why brands should engage their audience. Gamification helps convince buyers by providing a positive brand experience. Satisfied players often become loyal customers.
