Aunty Acid is a well-known social media figure because of her witty insights and comedic behavior. She has over 11 million followers on Facebook and she even has her own website that features an online shop and browser games such as puzzles and quizzes.
We’ve worked with the creators of Aunty Acid to develop an online quiz that features the brand’s beloved aunty as the host and main attraction of the game show. We’re proud to feature the Aunty Acid Quiz —a game reskin of Millionaire Quiz.
In the Aunty Acid Quiz, players have to answer 15 questions based on the category they have chosen. Currently, the five categories available are Technology, Sports, Music, Health, and Science.
Players are given 30 seconds to answer every question. The difficulty increases after every question is correctly answered. Don’t worry as players are given 3 expendable “lifelines” each game.
The game ends after the player gets an incorrect answer or gets the $1 million prize. A new set of questions is prepared every time a new game starts.
Reskinning is the term that refers to the integration of new assets and features to an existing game. The Aunty Acid Quiz is a reskinned version of our very own Millionaire Quiz.
We used the core mechanics of our ready-to-license Millionaire Quiz. By changing assets, we were able to create a game that perfectly fits the brand of Aunty Acid. The twist for Aunty Acid Quiz was the change of host which adds a different charm to the game.
Reskinning is an economic choice for game development as it reduces the amount of resources needed. Here are the direct benefits that game reskins provide to brands and businesses:
1. Easy to Develop
Game reskins don’t start from scratch as they adapt the core mechanics of the original games they are built from. Existing assets, such as codes and game engines, are used for developing new games and allow faster turnaround time. Also, reskinned games have fewer bugs and compatibility issues that need to be fixed. Essentially, the old games are ready; only the graphics and sound elements are being modified.
