We recently collaborated with ALDI to help create an interactive kids portal. ALDI is the leading supermarket chain in Europe, with almost 10,000 stores in 18 countries.
HTML5 has been on the mind of big chains for a while. The logic is easy - with vastly reduced development costs, big chains can easily afford launching small to mid sized projects designed to entertain their target audience. The cost of launching a HTML5 game is 1/10 (in many cases, less) than the cost to develop native iOS and Android games.
The games we developed include math challenges, animal trivia, cognitive trainers, and match 3 mechanics featuring kid-friendly characters. The games were designed to inspire and educate young kids.
Localization played an important role in this project. With the help of professional translators in our team, we were able to successfully localize the games to cater to a young german audience.
Using HTML5 allowed ALDI to provide the games in a cross platform environment. End users can now enjoy games on their mobile device, tablets as well as desktop and laptop computers.
With ALDI taking the lead, this is a strong sign that HTML5 technology is the preferred choice for cross-platform entertainment.
