We developed a very interesting game in collaboration with O2, a UK broadband and telco giant. Apart from direct consumer needs and services, O2 also specializes in business technology with clients ranging from small and medium companies to huge enterprises. O2 Business is geared towards improving business processes by providing clients with the essentials to update, control and manage their operations.
The O2 Business character personifies the experiences business owners go through, with the ups and downs of business life. O2 Business can help improve teamwork and communication, increasing productivity in all aspects thus giving their clients an edge over competitors.
As the company focuses on providing their valued clients with the most efficient applications, reliable web connections and useful gadgets, we came up with a game, O2 Business Builders, which highlights and promotes O2 Business’ foremost product offerings.
At the onset, you would need to login your name, email and company. On each game level, players need to collect one type of item. The first level has to be completed to unlock the next 2 levels. There are corresponding dates when the other levels would be available for play.
The objective of Level 1 is to collect the most number of App icons in 60 seconds. It’s a simple side scrolling platform game with the high street small shops in the background. You just need to click up so the O2 character can avoid the obstacles (signboard and car) and collect App icons placed above ground. Then click below to move down.
Total number of apps collected and distance travelled is shown at the end of each run. There are options to restart the game or to go back to main menu. You can play the level over and over again to try to beat your high score. The bottom right action takes you to a leaderboard, where you can see top scores for the day, the week, as well as all time record highs.
When game comes to an end, there are also some pick-me-up notes for a little business inspiration.
The HTML5 environment is the ideal choice for developing this type of game. Much like O2’s business nature, HTML5 games can be accessed and played whenever and wherever there is network connection, in various devices and on different operating systems.
Games developed on HTML5 can be easily shared via a URL, without the hassles of downloading. This is especially useful for O2 Business clients as time is always of the essence in business operations.
