MTN Group is a South Africa-based multinational mobile telecommunications company which was founded in 1994. As of 2017, their products and services are being enjoyed by 232.6 million subscribers in at least 22 countries across the globe.
The telco giant recently launched Bonus Bucks, a games portal for subscribers. We are delighted to help MTN launch this portal.
Bonus Bucks is a subscription-based game portal service for MTN South Africa’s subscribers. It's available via SMS subscription.
For a small amount of money, users will be able to play hundreds of games on their mobile phones. They come in various genres, including Match 3, Action, Puzzle, Strategy, and more.
To encourage more customers to subscribe to the game portal, MTN South Africa holds daily draws where portal subscribers get a chance to win prizes. A set of random numbers is generated daily and if the subscriber’s number matches at least 2, they get a prize. Currently, prizes range from R 5 (US 4¢) of airtime to R 1,000,000 ( ~ 80k USD ) in cash.
To be eligible, subscribers must click the daily link sent to them and must have enough airtime on their account. The cost of a subscription is R1.5 per day ( ~ 12 US cents ).
The games in the portal are all developed with HTML5 technology. It means that the people who subscribe to the portal do not have to download plugins or any specific application to play the games. All they need to do is subscribe, have a modern smartphone device, and an access to the internet to enjoy these games.
The cost of developing HTML5 games is lower than games that are native to Android or iOS. HTML5 games are cross-platform, so subscribers do not have to worry if the games will be compatible with their devices.
In this case, subscribers can play the games whether they have an iOS or an Android device.
